Our Collaborative
The mission of the Urban Literacy Collaborative and Clinic (ULCC) is to advance the multiple literacies of adolescent youth through teaching, teacher education, research and outreach initiatives. The ULCC is devoted to preparing the next generation of literacy teachers and scholars who are seeking practical and intellectual pathways to meet some of the most pressing challenges encountered in urban schools. Our goal is to prepare teachers to enrich the literacy lives of youth in the Atlanta community through individual and small group lessons in reading and writing. We are also committed to providing outreach programs to youth and families in the surrounding communities.
Programs
Work in the literacy clinic is an integral piece of the Reading, Language and Literacy M.Ed. program that prepares literacy leaders in schools.
